Not every plumbing issue needs a same-day call. Here's how to tell the difference so you're not paying for urgency you don't need — or waiting on something you shouldn't.
Active flooding, a burst or actively leaking pipe, sewage backing up into the home, or no water at all to the house are all situations where waiting makes the problem worse or causes property damage. These are worth calling in immediately, any time of day.
A slow drain, a dripping faucet, a running toilet, or low water pressure in one fixture are all real problems, but they typically don't get meaningfully worse by waiting a day or two for a scheduled appointment rather than an emergency dispatch.
A water heater that's stopped working is urgent if it's your only source of hot water and you have no other option, but less urgent if you can manage a day without it. A slab leak is rarely a "right now" emergency in the flooding sense, but shouldn't be ignored for long either since it can cause structural damage over time.
Treating every issue as an emergency means paying emergency rates for problems that didn't need it. Treating a real emergency as something that can wait risks turning a manageable repair into a much bigger, more expensive one. When in doubt, describing the situation on the phone can help us tell you honestly which category it falls into.
